The rescue story of Buddy (our one-year-old Labrador).

On 6th Aug 2022, Buddy went missing. He lived with us at Namsay Homestay & Cafe in Tabo, Spiti Valley. He's a one-year-old playful labrador, who just one day decided to vanish into thin air. Even though Tabo is a small remote town, we went looking for him everywhere and it seemed endless. Everyone became tense by the third day and even lost hope of him coming back...
The locals told us that maybe some tourists had taken him since he was not a native breed, or maybe some snow leopard ate him. We didn't lose our hopes, somewhere deep down we knew that he hadn't left us, and we were right! On the third night, some workers informed us about an unusual barking at the riverside towards the outskirts of the town. We all visited the place and found our little baby, crying for help and looking so tiny from far away beside the river bed.
On the fourth day, we decided to feed him to get some food in his belly. We tried throwing food from far away so that it reached him. The shore he was stuck on had dangerous water currents for anyone to cross or even think about crossing. There was no possible way that we alone would have been able to rescue him, so we just managed to talk to him and feed him once a day.

On the fifth day, when we had contacted our connections and there was no possible help, I contacted Spiti Ecosphere who worked with us throughout the journey. They gave me the contact of Abhishek sir (Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kaza) to whom I explained the whole issue, and he informed me that he has notified the police and they'll be in touch with me.
The next thing I remember is that, a letter is issued in my name via Deputy Commissioner and that rescue help is on the way. The rescue team was ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) soldiers.
ITBP soldiers first analysed the whole situation and then came with all the rescue equipment and saved our Buddy on 11th Aug 2022analyzed! He is now back with us, happy and safe.

Thank you so much ITBP Kaza, ADC, and even Spiti Ecosphere for all your kind assistance.

We all are very grateful for your service!
